Hi all,
I've been following this thread with interest. I have both a K3 and a TS590 but I find myself using the 590 more, not because I believe it has a better receiver but because I find it less

What is harsh and fatiguing, and what if anything can be done about it, will depend on where in the IF/audio chain distortion is occurring.
For instance, my Icom Pro III sounds harsh on SSB if

Re: [Elecraft_K3] K3 vs Icom - fatigue
I'm thinking your lo cut of .35 high.
Try .20 or .25 and see what you think, that should balance a little better or offset the highs. That will still give you 2.3 high with 2.1 filter.

Re: [Elecraft_K3] K3 vs Icom - fatigue
Hi Mike,
I have an external Kenwood SP-950 speaker for monitoring. But when making any QSO’s I am using headphones.
I did not notice any change going from -6 to -16 on the 8th band equalizer.

Tony,
And I hardly ever use fast. I find in slow I can set it to the right spot, not too fast and not too slow. Maybe you should try slow and tweak it.
Here's mine
