Re: [Elecraft_K3] K3 on the BC bands
The 6U5, is that a all metal octal? Sounds familiar, I might have one of those in my tube box in the utility shed. Less likely for the 6G5.
My first real ham radio was a BC348. I sold it decades

I still have a working Wards Airline floor model. Working, except for the tuning eye. If anyone has a source for a 6G5 or 6U5 let me know (off list).
We (my parents) had a Sparton too. I wound up

Consider an internet radio, Mike. That's what I listen to at night after the TV next to the bed is off. Lots of old-time radio options, plus I enjoy BBC World more than most broadcasters.

Some of the old radio shows are available as podcasts although mostly westerns, detectives and comedy.

I sure do remember our Zenith floor model, equipped with a green tuning eye and me on the floor next to it listening to Gangbusters or some shortwave broadcast from afar. Didn't need much antenna

Here is a guess. The republicans wanted more more station owners to have a money machine selling air time, and the democrats pushed for more minority and woman ownership.
The rules for how many

This is a topic on interest to me because I relied so heavily on AM stations in my youth. Our floor model Zenith had pretty good capability, and even some shortwave capability. I

Today, we elect people to do this for us. And among us there are otherwise seemingly intelligent people who help bring it about.

Re: [Elecraft_K3] Re: K3 on the BC bands
For what it's worth,
I listen to some AM broadcast on the k3. I have a external tuner without a bypass switch that I use for matching a amp input on some bands. I've found it attenuates AM broadcast

Re: [Elecraft_K3] K3 on the BC bands
I forgot, what was the reason the FCC did away with clear channels, was it something to do with fairness, minority stations opportunity etc?
I rarely listen to AM radio anymore, nor FM commercial,

Re: K3S Shippments
I got a call from Elecraft early this afternoon. The radio is currently on the bench, and they are waiting for a part (KPA3A) in order to complete the build.
They expect to have it shipped out to me

Re: [Elecraft_K3] K3 on the BC bands
Yes, the returns are predominately concerning the conglomerate, but there are a number of listings shown for the REAL clear channel stations as well.
Some great info on the history aspect too.

Re: [Elecraft_K3] Re: K3 on the BC bands
Here is why listeners cannot hear KOA any more in 38 states. Stations now also on 850 kHz. They are called “drop-ins”.
This additional QRM doesn’t even cover the 30-kHz wide digital signals
