Thank you for your input.

I have a DX Patrol SDR receiver, perhaps I can use it with my K3 IF out.

I will try it after the IARU contest.

You can size and position SD anywhere to fit your window layout (large or dual monitors very helpful). SD can also be set up to operate remotely by running a stripped-down instance of N1MM at the radio site that relays spectrum and waterfall to the control site where the logging instance of N1MM runs. The SD window at the control site is identical to what it would be locally. This is all way beyond what you can do with a P3 (although I think some people did engineer a way to relay P3SVGA data. Don't know much about that.)

There are many ways to set up N1MM SD, using I/Q data from some few transceiver types or a RX ANT loop or IF output feeding an external SDR. I use an Airspy HF+ in the RX ANT loop which works very well for me. YMMV.

Hi,
If I run a little extra power (ie 200W+) my receive signal drops.
I see this on the P3 as the noise floor drops and also in audio with AF drop.
Once the tx power is removed, a slow (meaning approx 2 sec) restoration of noise floor/audio is achieved.

Not having much space to play with (living in an apartment) my radio/amp are closely spaced and the antenna is approx 5m from me.
Antenna is new, coax is new and not considered as at fault as, with the previously installed antenna, I had the same issue.

I never run more than 500W.

I assume the closeness of the the antenna might be the issue but wonder whether there maybe something else I should be considering.

Using a K3 (8415) which is pretty much fully loaded (excl 2m module) and with no K3S mods. SPE-1K Amp and a Cobwebb antenna (3KW version)

Tnx in advance

Re: ESSB and the + sign on the front panel display

Bob McGraw - K4TAX

The + sign in the lower right in SSB mode is indicating that ESSB mode is ON.

To change it, go into the CONFIG menu, scroll to TX ESSB with the VFO B knob.  Press and release 1 to turn it OFF or ON.  Also, with it ON, you can change the TX BW with the VFO A knob when ESSB mode is ON.

I’m having a memory lapse - recently there has been a “+” sign in the bottom RH corner of the K3 display. What does it signify (perhaps ESSB ??) and how do I turn it ON or OFF. I’ve checked prior messages on GroupIO but so far unable to track it down.

I am running a updated K3 with P3/VGA and I love it.

In as much as I know that the weakest part of my station is the operator which can't be updated (85) so I am looking for hardware improvement. :)

Is there any benefit to run N1MM+'s "Spectrum display" with the logging program.

Anybody out there who wants to sell his K-POD? Ruined mine today due to stupidity while cleaning up the shack. K-POD was falling on the floor while I was moving a very heavy metal desk and landed right under the foot the moment when I let go of the table.
Lesson learned: don't clean up the shack even when the XYL gives a lot of pressure... :-(

I sent a message over to Elecraft just asking about potential dates as my order was placed a day or two after the 'last run' message came out. The answer I got was/is a tad frustrating in that it appears that no parts orders have been placed and won't be placed until the new "last day to order" closes on 07/15/2021.

Definitely not what I was expecting nor wanting to hear/read.

So now the ~10-week part procurement clock will begin ticking shortly after the 15th of July (I hope) and the tentative kit, module, parts delivery date is now somewhere near October/November.

I love my K3 & P3 and I'm committed to Elecraft and their great support. I'm also retired and on a fixed income so just don't have options at the drop of a hat to change rigs, etc., etc..

Just frustrated and disappointed with the news I got today.

Of course ... this does not even compare to what many OMs have been and are going through with respect to their K4 orders.

This Options Order will work itself out, but it is frustrating.
