After smoke poured from the tuner section, I discovered two burned caps on the underside of the board. I also noticed the core must have heated up enough as the insulated terminal to one tab of the circuit breaker was burned a bit (most likely where it was touching the coil). So to confirm, the now charred caps can be removed as well as the wound core L10 from the top side of the board. I should unsolder that and place a jumper to the two points where it attached to the board.I can also cut it out and clean the ends of the enameled wire and bridge those I read. K3 SN 2321. I am the second owner. I bought the K3 back around 2010 (I think). I believe (but don’t know for sure) that the previous owner had assembled the radio as the assembly manual has the boxes checked as it was being built.

Radio was repaired at Elecraft back in June 2020 to replace a 5 volt regulator and a couple of burned up resistors on the KPA3. Updated about 20 items and performed full factory calibration. Elecraft letter provided with sale. Elecraft updated software to 5.67.
P3 SN568 I assembled this kit. Spectrum Display with serial, coax and power cables to K3. (No VGA adapter)
