When you say tongue, do you mean the metal contact or the plastic part that supports the contact?

I have a vast number of housings, all from a prominent US supplier (Quicksilver) and they have an A, but no circle. Torberry UK also show pictures of housings with an A but not in a circle. Even the ones on the K3 and the lead do not have a circle. This image is from Torberry: 73 de David, M0XDF (K3 #174, P3 #108) -- Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons,

I'll see if I can dig up the side by side comparison photos I took. The ones I got on Amazon were fake. Even the A in a circle logo was upside down. I'll dig through Google photos when I'm awake. -Bob

Re: Antenna Connection Irregularities
I started wiggling coax and found a bad section between the K3s and the amp. I replaced it and so far seems ok.

Need to isolate ... try without amp ... if possible, jumper antenna(s) so that the switches are not used. Could also be a relay. Any barrel connector is suspect if it isn't Amphenol.
And so on ...

I had a similar problem, but on only 6 thru 20m. Traced it to a dirty? center pin PL259 connection at the antenna. I inspected than cleaned it with DeoxIT. Problem went away. 1 year later it reoccurred, cleaned it again and problem went away. I could see this happening on my P3 grass level. No swr or transmit problem when this occurred.

Re: EARLY ANDERSON POWER POLES
Someone mentioned earlier there are fake APP's around.
The fake insert has a large A imprinted on the tongue. The fake one is 0.5mm thick where as the proper one is 0.6mm thick. The proper one has a longer V indentation on the tongue which makes it stiffer and hence more reliable. I will try to post a picture of the two in the photos folder. There are also subtle differences in the plastic holder. -- 73s Bob G3REP

Re: EARLY ANDERSON POWER POLES
Kent Trimble, K9ZTV
My K3 is serial number 21 and is the first
kitted K3.
During assembly, I was concerned about the tension of the pre-installed Anderson Power Pole attached to the rear panel. It captured the mating connector but wasn't as snug as other APP connections I was used to. Visually the internal metal tabs appeared to be properly locked. A month later, NØSS (s.n. 8) and I were invited to display the only two K3s that had been shipped to Missouri at the 2007 ARRL Midwest Convention in Lebanon. A multi-band dipole outside the arena allowed attendees to operate the radios on-the-air. During set-up, I tripped over the coax and ripped out the power cable from my K3. If the tension on that APP had not been as light as it was, the K3 would have ended up on the floor. Tom's subsequent examination of both rigs revealed wires attached to the APPs on the inside were too short and thus displacing the metal tabs just enough to prevent solid hefty connections. Bruce's serial number 158 experience, together with ours, probably result from factory growing pains at whatever facility was installing APP connectors in those early days. 73, Kent K9ZTV Jefferson City, Missouri On 4/28/2020 10:18 AM, Bruce Prior

Also use Anderson Power Poles for all my 12 volt DC - buy them from a reputable source ( SOTA Beams in the UK) and use a decent crimptool from the same source. No problems at all in my shack.
Use a short a lead to my K3 as possible, wired directly to the terminals of my Samlex Power Supply (rated at 35A) Bob G4DBW

APP connectors
I've had zero problems with APP connectors, in any application. They're an em-comm standard, and have been far less problematic than Molex or other connectors. We assemble them according to the manufacturer's instructions, and there's no excessive voltage drop, heating, or other issues.
It's possible that in isolated cases they have been abused or were defective, but at the same background rate affecting any other connector type. 73, Wayne N6KR

Sounds like there is something wrong with that pair. Elecraft have been using APPs for some time, the K100 (K2 Amp) comes with APPs. I have K3 Serial No. 174 and never had a problem. And I’ve used my home made cables at times too.

Never had a problem with any APPs and everything 12v in my Shack and gear is APP, even took the Molex off my FT-857 and replaced it with APPs (the molex was going intermittent!) 73 de David, M0XDF (K3 #174, P3 #108) --

Re: K3 supply voltages
Bruce Prior
My K3 is S/N 00158, as stated in my QST review. The power cable came with the radio. Is it possible that very early on, Elecraft did not crimp its Anderson Powerpole connectors? The problem is that there is very little friction to hold the connectors
reliably attached to the K3. They slip out far too easily.
