Dale,

If you want a SP3, save yourself some money. I will sell mine, new in opened box for $190. No shipping cost, or sales tax. $190 to your door and I will take PayPal, or a personal check.

And it might be desireable to work a deal with acquaintances to use one  prime account and split the cost or throw in a few bucks. In a similar vein, I know some folks that "share" garbage collection fees, an idea that got real popular when the fees went up 30% in one shot.

Shipping gets to be a nag when you have to send stuff back and forth to get it fixed.  Fortunately,  EleKraft ( K is for Koolaid) gear is designed to be at least partially field repairable.

No... it's an annual fee around $110.00, but includes a HUGE free video database and other things.
I figured out that I saved about $900 in shipping last year....

$900-$110 = $790 net savings....  I'll take that kind of a deal every day and twice on Sunday.

It is NOT.

It is a finished speaker in a quality ULINE box with really well-done engineered packing.

My heavens but some of us are tight....  No... tight doesn't get it.  CHEAP..... Wanna own Cadillac radios, but won't pay reasonable shipping.... SHipping is NOT JUST the cost for USPS, FEDEX, UPS.... You have packaging, and LABOR to PACK that SINGLE item order...

If you order a single $199.00 speaker, it's gonna be expensive no matter where you get it.  Now, some folks will roll a portion or more of the shipping into the price to hide it from you.
Elecraft does not.  THAT WAY, when you place a $3k+ order, you don't pay the inflated shipping on EVERY item...

Just....  <smh>

Assuming the SP3 "ships flat" (unassembled), it should fit a USPS "Large Flat Rate Box" (12 x 12 x 6) for $19.95 any where in the US (including KL7/KH6/KP4). It might fit in the side load "Medium Flat Rate Box" (12 x 3 1/4 x 13 5/8) for $14.35.

Regional Rate B packaging is even less if the distance is appropriate (e.g. California to West of Mississippi or VA/NC to East of Mississippi).

I was going to purchase another SP-3 as I really like the one I have. I was all set to hit the buy button until I seen the cost to ship via UPS, $36.84. For a light weight item and not that big, $36.84 seems outragous. Is this a correct price for shipping via UPS or is it a typo? I see the other shipping option is via USPS Priority two day, $38.79. I just double checked and my eyes weren’t deceiving me. I can’t imagine how much shipping a KPA1500 would be.

We have three complete transceiver product lines aside from the K3S: The ultraportable KX2, its larger brother the KX3 (used by many hams as a compact home station), and the K4, our first hybrid-SDR desktop radio (with matching KPA1500 amp). All are very much active and will be for the foreseeable future.

Yes. But if the signal is still too hot, it triggers the COR.

If the COR relay gets keyed by your RF or by another nearby TX, consider increasing separation between antennas or using a supplemental diode switch keyed by the KEY OUT signal.

All RX antenna ports have series PIN diodes that open during TX.

Is there any chance that Elecraft would open source the full schematics and PCB layouts (and firmware source code if applicable) for the discontinued modules?

It is an annual fee of $119.00, but if you pay monthly it costs $155.00. It also includes Amazon streaming video, streaming music, and an e-book per month. There could be other benefits I don’t use. Rob, NC0B

I pay once a year.  If $38 is for a #20 or 30 lb package from the West coast to the midwest, then I will save a hexx of a lot of money in shipping for all the stuff I purchase on Amazon with my prime membership.
