Re: [Elecraft_K3] K3S lost USB connection to Computer

Find and open Device Manager and see which COM ports are defined.

Had a similar event after a big Windows 10 upgrade when some COM port numbers changed.

K3 Remote No SSB output Power

Frank Davis

For some reason I have no power output on SSB...using K3 mini with remote K3 and RR Boxes.

I have rPNL.H BIAS selected and MIC GAIN at 12.   SSB was working and I have no changed anything in past couple of days.   Headset CM-500  plugged into the SPKRS and MIC jack on the side of the K3.

Last night I tried to work JT65 on 160 and could not get any output.

Full power ok on Cw.  Receiver audio sounds normal.   If I use the audio files in M1-M4 all is normal and they play and I get RF out.

K3 Utility tells me that FL1 FRQ is -.77   also same on the CONFIG menu ....I have not changed  that setting but I have seen a few posts elsewhere that claim if the OFFSET is "off" too much there will be no SSB power out.

When I turn on the MONITOR and press XMIT I can faintly hear my audio like in a barrel.  So the mike works...

.

Anyone have any clues as to what is going on?

Re: Data transmit audio passband ?

nn4e@...

After digging around and actually reading the manual it appears the 2.7kHz filter FL2 FRQ was set to 0, page 43 of the manual enlightened me that a 5 pole filter will have some offset and the builders notes confirmed, set to the correct value of -0.81 and all is fine.

Anyone know how I might correct this?  (yes I am logged in)...

Re: Data transmit audio passband ?

ve3ki@...

Is this on receive or transmit? Which data mode (FSK D, AFSK A, DATA A or PSK D)? Assuming this is on receive, what is your filter width setting? You can adjust that with the WIDTH control. If it's on transmit and the mode is AFSK A, there is an AFSK TX setting in AFSK A mode that limits the transmitted bandwidth to 400 Hz when selected. In FSK D and PSK D, the transmit frequencies are fixed by the radio and cannot be changed using a waterfall or spectrum display.

The problem seems to have gone away since i plugged in and removed a front panel mike connector.  I have not used the front mike as i use the rear panel. It sure seemed like the up button was being pushed and thats the only place it has connections. I will chock it up to dusty contacts making contact.
Unless of course, it comes back.

Because it looked like the up button was being pushed, as a test i plugged in a mike connector just to see if it did anything. I just plugged in and removed. no more since. Maybe some conductive dust on the mike pins? that was weird.
