Started with a cold start at FP 22ºC the REF CAL was 49.380.010.  Verified against 5.0 MHz WWV the radio shows 4.999.998.   

At 30 minutes, the FP was 29ºC, the REF CAL was  49.380.010.  Verified against 5.0 MHz WWV the radio shows 4.999.999

At 60 minutes, the FP was 32ºC, the REF CAL was 49.380.010.  Verified against 5.0 MHz WWV the radio shows 5.000.000

At 62 minutes, the FP was 32ºC, the REF CAL was 49.380.010. Verification against 10.0 MHz WWV the radio shows 10.000.001

That's good enough for me.

That is the method I now use.  I have a Bodnar GPSDO reference into a BG7TBL FA-2 counter.  I've just waited 30 minutes or so before adjusting the REF CAL to this reading.  Based on your info, I'm going to do some plotting of warmup time.  That seems like a lot of drift.

My calibration method ist this:

Method 1 (Frequency Counter): 


  • Locate the CONFIG:REF CAL menu entry.

  • Connect a frequency counter with +/-1 Hz or better accuracy to J1 on the reference oscillator module. Measure the exact frequency in Hz.

Using VFO A, set the REF CAL parameter to match this frequency. Then exit the menu. 

I'm measure a range of 49.373770 - 49379840 in 1 hour.

What is now the "right" frequency I define in the config menu???
