After all the 'desperate' questions about the S3 downconverter's
appearance no reaction to Paul's info?

Promises a long, very long, time resets interest and take the upper hand in disbelief for anything.

Having returned today from a trip away, I see the DCM for the S3  is in test mode by Paul...
Hope the results are as impressive  as the HF portion..
Will be looking at the Elad shop everyday.. Thanks for  screen grabs Paul..

Hi everyone!

This is great news!
For me personally, it is the capabilities above 54 MHz with a downconverter that is the raison d'etre for the S3.
Many of us here can play around with evaluation board mixers on the kitchen table, but very few of us can make products. :-)
I keep my fingers crossed for a successful launch of the downconverters and not just in one frequency range for that matter!

Hello,

the S3 User Manual has been updated with a few information about the Downconverter frequency coverage. Another important news is that to install the Downconverter inside the S3, the self install option will be not more suggested, we will propose facilitated solution to who already own the S3 and wanted to add it the Downconverter to ship the S3 to our facilities and will be mounted for free option. Only shipment to ELAD will be at customer charge.

To me, recommending that the Downconverter be installed at your facilities indicates that there could be a problem with self installation. Apparently the problem is serious enough to remove the self install instructions in the revised manual. How serious is the problem? Is there the possibility of damage to the S3? Could you elaborate on what the problem is?

Would my S3 have to be shipped all the way to ELAD facilities in Italy for the upgrade?
I'm not getting a good feeling about this.

One more question:
The maximum input frequency range for the S3 with downconverter is given in the manual, but not the supported band segments on VHF and UHF. The installation manual looked promising but specific bands are not elaborated upon. Perhaps ELAD will offer specific options since the user install option is no longer deemed feasible? An advantage with factory install would be that an overall system price for an S3 with a very specific VHF or UHF band capability might be available from ELAD eventually.

Self install instructions are not in the user manual and are still present here. Apart the issues few customers have had installing downconverters (wrong screws, inverted wires, little tightness), the complete frequency coverage will require another little piece of hardware connected to the downconverter which is harder to install. We just wanted to warn customers of this additional installation difficulty and avoid unpleasant repairs for all. We will update the self install instructions when possible so it will be clearer for everyone.

The frequency range with the downconverter is 108MHz to 4.25GHz, without interruptions.

again 2 months have passed and no information about the availability of the
DownConverter, please dear people from ELAD, when can we expect it.

we do not have this answer actually. Due to the difficulty to retrieve electronic components at a decent price, for now we produce the downconverter in batches of 10-15 pieces.

 The main question is

when ELAD will make enough Downconverters for all those who bought the FDM-S3 for non-FM radio listening purposes.

Beautiful promises have been believed, funds have been issued,

 but the FDM-S3 is lying in a box in the garage as an unnecessary thing.
