Hardrock 500 #eladduo

Just a note that the Hobby PCM Hardrock 500 Power Amplifier Support Kit is now available for sale.  The support kits contains everything you need to home brew a 5w to 500w amplifier.  I have completed mine, and it works beautifully with the Elad FDM-DUO.  With the FDM-DUO set to 5 watts it will drive the HR500 makes 500 watts to the antenna.  Using the FDM-DUO interface from Hobby PCB the amplifier band switches with the DUO.

A internal antenna tuner will be available shortly for the HardRock 500.

This combination makes for a great and compact portable station with a big punch.

Just got this today,

This is a HF RF amp that works with the Elad 5 watts in 500 watts out with an antenna tuner…

It’s a bit pricy at $1,200.00

Don't you then have to buy the $500 RF amp board too?

Yes, you have to buy the RF Deck board or supply your own.  The support kit has supplies that will supply 50-60 volts and a heat sink and heat speader that will work with a number of RF Amps.  I see them on Ebay frequently.   The RF Amp board does include the MOSFets, they are about $250.

whew! i use the inexpensive MX-P50M w/my Duo, along with an LDG Z11... 2W in gives ~40W out, depending on band... autotunes nicely thanks to Z11's 60W max, but alas, no auto bandswitching

i like that everything is compact and works well w/my lightweight 12Ah lifo

that hardrock looks pretty though...
