FDM-SW2 GUI suddenly became none responsive

I just installed the software on a new Windows 10 machine and all was working great. But after tinkering with other related CAT software, I can only start up the Elad software and listen to the last tuned frequency, beyond that nothing works in the interface, not even the close program button in the upper right. Ideas?

I've tried reinstalling the software, but no difference noted.

Delete and/or rename the ELAD folder under your User directory and start SW2 fresh. Fixes many weird issues.

Hi Bill, I'm not much of a Windows guy, but I followed the path C: > Users > billa > and I see no Elad folder. There are other folders such as Videos, One drive, downloads, etc. but no Elad? Am I in the wrong spot?

Hmm, there is an Elad folder in the OneDrive folder with a lot of stuff, including my memories, etc. Is that the folder you mean?

That isn't good news Bill.  Trying to run SW2 with the local data in a OneDrive folder is *definitely* not a good idea.  Any idea how that happened?  It should default to c:\users\<username>\Documents\ELAD\FDM-SW2\ during installation.

Something somewhere maybe thinks your default location is somewhere in a replicated copy of a Microsoft cloud folder.

If you don't have a Documents folder in c:\users\billa\ then you probably have an environment variable somewhere pointing at your OneDrive location.

I don't use OneDrive, so I can't shed any light.

From a CMD prompt, try this:

set | findstr HOMEPATH

then

set | findstr USERPROFILE

and see if those say anything other than c:\users\billa (with or without the C:)

Hi Neal, No idea how it happened. Both of those command line tests point to c:\users\billa

It turns out that deleting the Elad folder, even in it's odd location, did clear the problem. Still, I'd like to clean things up.
