Re: FDM-DUO : FM sensitivity on 29 and 50MHz - deaf?
Hi
It does not normally need any preamp. ( maybe for moonbounce on 6m.)
I have never needed one here..( not moonbounce)
But you may need to switch in attenuator below 10mhz to stop

Re: FDM-DUO : FM sensitivity on 29 and 50MHz - deaf?
My understanding is that you don't need much sensitivity at below 20m as natural band noise (QRN) is high and any "extra" sensitivity makes no difference. But at 29 and 50 MHz, QRN band noise is much

Re: FDM-DUO : FM sensitivity on 29 and 50MHz - deaf?
I only use FM on 10GHz rainscatter but I haven't noticed that nbfm demod is radically different from other modes. Sensitivity on 28 and 50 on other modes is identical to other bands, it only drops off

FDM-DUO : FM sensitivity on 29 and 50MHz - deaf?
I have checked out the QST review for the FDM-DUO and the FM sensitivity for 12dB SINAD on 29 and 50 MHz is 1.26uV (-105dBm) and 1.62uV (-103dBm).
This suggests that the FDM-DUO is around 15-17dB

Re: S3 Downconverter 3rd Qtr Pot Stir
For me the Downconverter was the reason for buying the FDM-S3, Elad shouldn't just leave its customers like that.
Inquiries by mail are not answered at all, I think the Perseus22 hype pushes

S3 Downconverter 3rd Qtr Pot Stir
Just stirring the pot again to see if there is any new information re Downconverter future availability timeline.
Has a source been found for the TCA9535RTWR chips?

Re: Anyone having a problem with Elad repairs????
Elad Italy-based repair is slow, unfortunately.
Supply chain, lack of labor and covid precautions.
I still love my FDM-DUO. I have two, just in case. :)

Chet,
I don’t have a specific response on ELAD repairs.
However like you, I have tried to contacted ELAD USA (several times) as I’m trying to buy a Duo ART 120. If anyone has a 120 for sale

Hi Dave,
A good choice. The only thing that has gone wrong with my S2 is the blue light no longer works.
Take care,

Re: Pair of ELAD S2 radios for sale - CONUS/Canada only
I have decided to NOT sell my pair of ELAD S2 radios! They work well and are keepers. Doesn't seem like anyone was overly interested anyway, so I don't think I caused much disappointment. HaHa!
