Whatever paint you use .(and yes 2 pack would be good, but then you need spray gun, compressor and min order is 1.2 l in uk.. abit over kill.)

I would recommend an epoxy-based paint (possibly a two-part) if your government allows it. It will withstand wear much better than regular enamel or lacquer-based paints.

well I am now 8 hours in with three instances of WSJT-X talking to the ELAD SW2 software, no time-out errors seen and I must say it is satisfying to see it all working as I had hoped it

Aha it was due to the filename length.
This works. But indeed the timing is flaky.

Sounds like the ELAD can't service the requests fast enough.
Put this into a file called "hamlib_settings.json" and save it in each WSJT-X directory where WSJT-X.ini is stored.

my reference to the "cannot service the request" is based on the fact that I can do a successful CAT test in WSJT-X on each of the 3 instances but then at random intervals each of the WSJT-X

What do you mean "cannot service the requests for status in a timely manner".
Are you getting a timeout error? What rig setting are you using for the ELAD?
