Hi Simon
first: I did not ask you if you have a license or not, you never know who you communicate with if you want to help people you help
I have several CB stations etc ... and I wanted to know if this Transceiver Elad has option roge beep
I am a person who respects the law and also the radio amateurs
I do not like to bother others
I only use and enjoy 11M band and the rest I listen to band
thanks

Simon
Also please no roger beep..it causes “ issues” on ham bands..
If using on 11 m,( nothing wrong with 11m!) then do as you like, but you will get grief if you use on ham bands..everyone will think your a cber without a license..you will get grief.. Plus if “ beep” too loud will “splatter”..that will not make you friends! Just saying..Simon

hello good gentlemen I am the owner of ELAD FDM-DUO (a gift from my family) and also new to this world of radio amateurs, 7 months as an amateur my question is: my friends have roger beep on their stations has roger beep function in ELAD FDM-DUO and FDM-SW2 ?? and the second question: in FDM-SW there are 4 virtual receivers RX1, RX2, RX3 AND RX4 and only RX1 can be used in TX How can I activate RX2, RX3, RX4 to use in tx or only one receiver can I use in TX and all 3 only for listening? Thank you

Re: Nice replacement knob for FDM-DUO
#fdm-duo
Nice. My only concern would be that the new all metal knob is much heavier than the original so will put even more stress on the already very weak encoder shaft leading to even more wobble and failure. Maybe look at adding some bracing e.g. felt washer?

FDM-Duo and 10MHz reference
#fdm-duo
Hi,
I read in the manual, considering Item #12: 1.3.1 Main Features Reception frequency range: 9kHz to 54MHz in direct sampling mode. Transmission bands: 160m to 6m. Selectable output power of 5W or 0dBm RF Out connector. Double antenna connectors (RTX for single antenna use or RX/TX for separated antenna use). Operating modes: CW, CWR, LSB, USB, AM and FM. ADC Linear LTC2165,16bit @122.88MHz. FPGA Spartan 6 XC6SLX25 + Serial Flash for stand-alone mode. Stand-alone RX demodulator with STM32F4 ARM floating point μController. LPC1766 Cortex M3 for LCD & Keyboard control. TX modulator with STM32F4 floating point μP + AD9957 DDS @368.64 MHz. Clocking source Si5338 driven by 10MHz TCXO or external reference input.
TX modulator from I2S source: MIC using Cirrus CS5346 or USB integrated Codec (CM6510Bcodec with customized firmware). CAT USB interface with FTDI controller AND: 10 MHz Reference Clock Stability 2.5 ppm TCXO within temperature range 0°C ÷ 40°C (32°F ÷ 104°F) Typical Stability within temperature range 15°C ÷ 35°C (59°F ÷ 95°F) 0.1 ppm i.e. 1Hz @ 10 MHz It is obvious that one could lock the internal TCXO to external reference, but I think about the possibility of using the Duo / evt wtih SW2 as either 10MHz clock or tx frequency measurement; As the first citation says Clocking Source by 10MHz TXCO OR external reference input I wonder: 1. Could the 10MHz connector also be used to deliver 10MHz TXCO-gen reference output with at 0.1ppm/1Hz@10MHz at some level? 2. The 10MHz WWV calibration button in SW2, does it adjust the FDM-Duo or only the SW2 / display? 3. Assumed that the FDM-Duo is calibrated to WWV 10MHz, what accuracy/stability could I expect on reception, say on 10MHz? 73 Espen LA1RQ

Nice replacement knob for FDM-DUO
#fdm-duo
I have had trouble with the tuning knob on my Elad FDM-DUO ever since I got it. The machining of the threaded hole for the set screw was poorly made. You cannot order a new one from Elad because they are always out of stock. Finally I found a very good replacement from LoveMySwitches.com. The set screws engage the shaft very well even though the knob info says it is designed for use with a "smooth" shaft. The O.D. is very slightly less than the Elad knob. Of course the encoder is still a bit wobbly and the new knob has no effect on that. Silver Anodized Aluminum Knob - "Full Moon" - 1/4" Smooth Shaft (41mm OD) $7.99 https://lovemyswitches.com/silver-anodized-aluminum-knob-full-moon-1-4-smooth-shaft-41mm-od/

Is there any quick way to enable/disable the attenuator in FDM-DUO stand-alone mode?
Menu option enables it everywhere, and isn't what I'm looking for neither quick. Thanks in advance. -- Get all the fools on your side and you can be elected to anything. --- Frank Dane

Dear fellow amateurs, when I record sound and want to play it back, I can't do this anymore. Disk is SSD on laptop with the best features
version 3.51 but for 3.51 no sound either. I've done everything but nothing helps Elad S2 Thanks in advance 73, ON3MK Mor

Jim,
Solution for stand alone problem and cw speed control. If you have your microphone or PTT substitute switch (foot peddle or some such thing) use that to put rig in TX mode, than the E! knob thing works great without putting rf on the air. I gave it a try and it worked great.

Thank you Peter for taking the time to reply and your suggestions. I spent some time experimenting with each this afternoon. The one I liked best is #3. - bringing up the FDM-DUO TX Control panel while in CW mode in the FDM-SW2 application.
It's perfect, however, I was hoping for a better solution while using the FDM_DUO stand alone. Solution #1 - using the E1 knob, unless I am missing something, requires someone to actually be generating a CW signal to get to the E1 CW WPM option. To me this
is not an ideal solution for changing the CW WPM on the fly while operating. You would have to, or should, switch to a dummy load, send a series of dots with one hand on the paddle, then use the opposite hand to access the E1 options and set the speed. I was
hoping for a more passive (off the air) quick solution. Using the Menu 45 option would almost be better. So maybe we CW operators need to request a firmware solution. In searching this group for a solution, Klaus, DK3QN, in his 7/22/18 post has a good firmware
solution in changing the E2 pitch option to CW WPM. CW operators make more CW WPM changes than Pitch changes.

There is three other ways to change the CW keyer speed.
Good Luck, let me know what you choose. I use the CAT #2 for 15 and 17 WPM.

Any suggestions on changing CW WPM quickly rather than going through the menu system to menu 45? This is awkward at best while operating. Thanks.

I may. I’ve one that is 18 mos old and hardly used. It suffers from that high swr error problem like most. The last firmware update was 6 mos ago; the new one is supposed to fix it. I work around it by bypassing the tuner. Otherwise mint condition. Kr Geoff M7COX Stansted
