Re: Headsets

Hello Tim,

The ELAD uses the same Mic Wiring as ICOM, so any mic/headset with the pinout for ICOM will work.

Check out the RS55SL SuperLight Travel Headset from Arlan Communications (RadioSport) http://www.arlancommunications.com/products/amateurRadio/radioSport/rs101555SL.asp

It also has a jumper that has a right-angle plug for the headphones to keep the cable out of the way of front panel controls.  It also adds an inline PTT button.

Re: Headsets

You will have to make a breakout box..
Then you can use anything you like.

By breakout box, I mean a box with flying lead from it into rj mic socket and into phones socket.
From box you plug in your headset.

ELAD FDM-S3 Current Draw

Ron Hunsicker

Paul,

Thanks for the information about the current draw of the OXCO; that's the unit that I ordered.

I have a Pyramid 3A linear supply which powers a number of small things.  Once I get the S3, I'll run it all for a bit and see how the voltage holds and how hot the Pyramid is.  I have larger supplies but insufficient undeveloped real estate on my desk without a major reorganization.

Could You Make a Broadband Recording for Me?

Bill Alpert

Three times each Wednesday (USA time), a dedicated group of radio amateurs participate in a high speed morse code event. I'm unable to hear the event from my home properly due to a very high noise floor in my location. I'm hoping an Elad owner would be willing to record one of these hour long events so that I can listen to it in detail and share it with others in our group for high speed morse code copy practice.

The event runs every Wednesday at 1300 – 1400z (favoring Asia/Pacific); 1900 – 2000z (favoring Europe/Africa); and 0300 – 0400z –Thursday (Wednesday evening in US/Canada).

I think the optimal recording location would be midwestern to eastern USA for either the 1900 UTC or 0300 Thursday UTC (Late night Wednesday in the US) session. You'll notice that the 20 and 40 meter ham bands light up for these events. You'll need a good antenna for the 14 MHz (1900 UTC session)  or 7 MHz frequency (0300 UTC session). I have several easy option to receive the large file produced. Thanks for considering my request. Here's a bit more information about the event and our club.

73 de Bill Alpert/ KG6NRV

CWops Tests, or CWTs, are 60 minutes in duration and held on Wednesday each week. There are three events at times that favor different geographic areas on this same day. Everyone is welcome – you don’t have to be a CWops member to join the fun. CWTs are a good opportunity to meet other CW fans who may be interested in CWops membership. Six bands are used – 10, 15, 20, 40, 80 and 160m. Suggested frequencies are from 28 to 45 kHz from the band edges.  However, this range should not be considered a limit when activity is such that participants find it necessary to spread further.   Please be considerate of ongoing QSOs and mindful of ongoing or imminent DXpedition operations., W1AW transmissions, etc. Please slow down when called at a slower speed – we want everyone to feel welcome. Lots of Qs or just a few, please submit your results for each session at http://3830scores.com
PURPOSE
Meet and greet and show activity on the bands.  It’s a good public relations opportunity for CWops for those who haven’t heard of us yet.  It’s also an opportunity for interested non-members to garner the required nominations for membership.
TIMES
Every Wednesday at 1300 – 1400z (favoring Asia/Pacific); 1900 – 2000z (favoring Europe/Africa); and 0300 – 0400z –Thursday (Wednesday evening in US/Canada).

New Option In v3.038 - Recording Speed

Bill Nollman

From the info.txt file (below) the “Recording Speed” options (Normal, Above_Normal, High, Realtime, Critical) look a lot like Windows process Priority settings. Is that what this is for or is it something different? If this is Windows Priority it would be better named that instead of Recording Speed.

Thanks,

--> Version 3.038 / July 8, 2020

    1. new DLLs (ELAD_DspLib_v2_0_12_0_2 and ExtIOmc_ELAD_FDMS3_v1_3_0_2)

    2. added recording priority, to set recording priority click on SET, go to

the "Recorder/Player" tab, select the "Recording Speed" value and then

click Apply or OK (this setting is done only during recording, for

standard acquisition mode or PLAY-FILE mode everything works as previous

Yes..fat 32 on stick

Good luck..it took me 4 different sticks to find one that works..
Use a good make one.

Once you find one that works it is super easy!

You will know if it does not work by seeing the tiny green leds flashing quickly for more than a few seconds, max typical time they should flash was on mine 10-15 secs before the red led come on.

If the original DUO USB memory stick is not included:
use an old low capacity one (4...8 GB), connection is via microUSB.

Re: FDM-SW2 DRM schedule source?

Neil Smith G4DBN

It goes to http://www.baseportal.com/cgi-bin/baseportal.pl?htx=/drmdx/scheduleini2

That is hardcoded as a Unicode string inside C:\Program Files (x86)\ELAD\ELAD FDM-SW2\ELADSampler.exe

Easy enough to use a hex editor to patch the executable and change that string to point at another site, or run a proxy with translation so any requests going to that URL are rewritten to go to your chosen site, so long as the returned content is in the right format (assuming SW2 obeys system proxy settings).

If you don't have anything running on port 80 on the local machine, you could add a DNS HOSTS entry for www.baseportal.com = 127.0.0.1 (or point it at another machine on your local network or on a cloud host) and run a simple program to receive that GET request, fetch the new content from the alternate server and send that back as output as a response to the original GET.

It might be a step too far to allow a config file parameter to be used, depending on how much input validation is done on the existing source.

Hi All

Does anyone know how to change the URL that the SW2 software uses to download it's DRM schedule? What mine is showing now is a great work of historical fiction.

I'd like to change it to use the schedule database that I help maintain at the DRM Reception Project, https://www.drmrx.org, but I'm not sure how to change it, or if a custom format is needed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers, Chris
