Re: WSJT-x TX CUT OFF
Antony Watts
Hi
You don’t say if your loss of TX is due to PTT switching off TX, or loss of USB audio. I suffered from loss of audio until - I upgraded to the latest WSJT (which on the Mac is 2.1.0), and also - disconected another USB device, which I think was overloading the 5V power output. 73 Antony M0IFA

WSJT-x TX CUT OFF
Mark Gottlieb <kk2l@...>
Good Afternoon All,
Sometimes, WSJT-x will cut off in TX almost immediately when replying in a QSO and will show a rig connection error. I have all three cables plugged into the tablet. I am thinking I can probably fix the issue if I unplug one of the cables. Which one should I disconnect? 73 Mark KK2L

Otso Ylönen
Hi,
Â
I noticed a little bug that I think did not exist before this update:
Â
If you bring up the Settings or the Playback File selection window and e.g. press Cancel to get back to the main screen, pressing Enter will bring the previously visited window back up. For example, if you dial in a frequiency and press Enter, you will be shown the Settings screen! The Memory Panel and the Logbook do not seem to cause the same effect.

Re: NOT ENOUGH USB CONTROLLERS
Mark Gottlieb <kk2l@...>
Alan,
Thanks for the reply. It will be helpful. I did resolve the audio issue which was a DELL issue with that particular brand of laptop. Turns out the internal microphone is defaulted in the OFF position which could not be corrected in the BIOS. In order to fix it, I went to the drivers download site for that TAG # and the BIOS update fixed the problem. The USB issue also appears to be a DELL issue. They are giving me an exchange on the laptop so we'll see if that solves the problem. It so happens that I was using an external hub but a cheap one when the problem started. However, when I removed the hub and plugged each cable into its own port, the problem continued. I will replace the USB Hub with the one you suggest. Thanks 73 Mark KK2L

I'm thinking the RF sensing of the HLA-150 isn't disabled by the PTT line. Just a guess.

Re: NOT ENOUGH USB CONTROLLERS
Alain Reiner <alain@...>
Hello Mark, all,
IMO, your USB controller, within the laptop, is not capable enough to stand the 3 usb flows. The most demanding is the "Rx" (signal for the SW2 software). If I properly read the laptop description, you've got 1 USB 2.0 port and 2 USB 3.0 ports. 1st step : ensure The Rx usb is connected alone on one of the two USB 3.0 ports. The 2 others (CAT and Audio) are less critical. they can be connected either on USB2.0 or USB3.0. If it still was not ok (it was not for me), you would have to get an external USB Hub. I tested several and found one powerful enough and HF resistant (does not go bersek when I push the pedal, you know...). So, I do recommend the Atolla USB 3.0 Hub with 4 ports + 1 charging port, with aluminium casing. No plastic. You have, obviously, to connect it to one of the USB 3.0 port of your laptop, and you can connect both 3 USB from the DUO on the hub ports. I even use the 4th port to connect an arduino. The arduino and the DUO are successfully sharing the 4 ports of this USB hub without any trouble. I don't use the external PSU of the hub. it is powered from the USB of the laptop. And last, I made several turns of the hub usb cord through a ferrite bead. https://www.amazon.com/atolla-Aluminum-Splitter-Charging-Individual/dp/B07RVPK7NL/ref=sr_1_13?keywords=atolla+usb+hub+3.0&qid=1582925377&sr=8-13 I don't catch why amazon make a 1 buck difference between the two models... they seem the same to me. Hope that helps. Best Regards, 73's, Alain F4HFS Le 28/02/2020 Ã 03:02, Mark Gottlieb a

NOT ENOUGH USB CONTROLLERS
Mark Gottlieb <kk2l@...>
Good Evening All,
Just purchased a DELL Latitude 7270 i5 6th Gen Laptop with 8GB ram and a 2.4 GHZ chip. I am getting the message "Not Enough USB Controllers to manage this device" which is popping up periodically. I am only running SW2 software and WSJT-x. It's a little surprising since I am also using a DELL Vue tablet, at times, to control the radio with no problems which is not as powerful as this laptop. I do have all 3 cables plugged into the laptop. Finally, I am not getting audio on WSJT-x or FLDIGI. I have configured this software the same as the tablet in the audio config section for both software applications. Any suggestions in which direction I should proceed to correct this? 73 Mark KK2L

HLA-150 Disable amp on tune
I hooked up my PTT cable to the amp. Set menu 56. Each time I press and hold mode button to initiate a tune cycle, it keys the amp. What am I doing wrong?

Re: elad-gqrx wrapper for gqrx
Ken
Giovanni,
Last update.. You were correct, the problem wasn't with the wrapper. Part of the reason for the problem was my limited linux abilities, the other was that the wrapper called up error when run as root. Another was that the system took a couple re-boots for the added text lines to be recognized. All is well now, thank you for your help to resolve this issue.

Re: elad-gqrx wrapper for gqrx
Ken
Update...
I have deleted the created elad.rules folder and simply added the text lines into the rules.d folder, which was (probably?) your intended advice. I now can run gqrx but still have the libusb errors showing in terminal.

Re: elad-gqrx wrapper for gqrx
Ken
Giovanni,
I created a folder called elad.rules within the folder rules.d In the elad.rules folder, I added the three lines of text. I always ran the wrapper with sudo and got the pulseaudio error. With the added lines, I still get the pulseaudio error if trying to run as root. I don't get the pulseaudio error when running the wrapper not as root. However, I now get this error: libusb: error [_get_usbfs_fd] libusb couldn't open USB device /dev/bus/usb/001/004: Permission denied libusb: error [_get_usbfs_fd] libusb requires write access to USB device nodes. libusb: error [_get_usbfs_fd] libusb couldn't open USB device /dev/bus/usb/001/004: Permission denied libusb: error [_get_usbfs_fd] libusb requires write access to USB device nodes. Sometimes gqrx will start up, sometimes not. If it comes up, it crashes as soon as I click to start the dsp.
