Hi,

A very simple one: Once you start recording of an IQ file and you get to give the file a name, you should be able to *hit Enter* to dismiss the dialog box and quickly start the recording. Fiddling with a mouse is frustrating if you are in a hurry...

Support for MW offsets in SW2 is my suggestion. More FFT options and extra high frequency resolution can open up new worlds.

Channel 2 operation. FDM DUO

phoekzema Hoekzema

What a surprise to find that channel 2 is such a mess.  I thought it would work like channel 1. Almost nothing works the same way or at all.  In the IF windows, you can’t adjust the band width.  Changing the bandwidth with the mouse and keyboard does not mean that is what you are going to get.  Almost nothing works as expected.

Version of software is 3.015.  all the firm ware is updated.  The computer is a HP ENVY I7 2.9 GHZ (64) and 12 Gig of memory.   Must I go back to 1.150 software to get what I think is normal operation.

CW Delay on DUO reset to 0ms when starting SW2

Neil Smith G4DBN

I just had a nasty moment.  I hit the auto CQ on my 10GHz equipment, which uses a DUO for the IF driver. The DUO usually has the CW Delay set to about 260ms, because I run a big power contactor at the masthead PA, along with a three-pound waveguide relay, which is a really heavy lump of brass and steel.  As you can imagine, trying to run that at 20wpm QSK very nearly wrecked the whole system.  Not sure what caused this or when it started.

I can create a CAT macro to reset the delay, or just press the button every time I load SW2, but that setting really needs to stay in the radio. Of course to make it REALLY cool, I'd like to have configurable CW Delay per frequency range.

Can anyone else please reproduce the fault or suggest how to fix it?

Thanks,

Neil G4DBN

And here is another one I forgot:

The main frequency display on the top screen needs to be at least twice as big.

It's the primary piece of information..and it's very small.

Hi Vianney and all,
i'm running now 3.017, CH2/Vol2 issue is now solved !!
That gives great hope in Elad FDM S3 with CH3 and CH4 capacity (4+4+4+4).  A true advantage over other SDR receiver manufactors
Many thanks Vianney and Elad team,

ASA-62 Antenna Splitter and USB cable for connecting ASA-62
The set described above with the testasa62.zip software since the last version Windows 10 64-bit version 1803 version 17134.81 system no longer wants to work
What
should I do?
This system was more than a year ago, to be coupled with the FDM-S2.
I'm still waiting for answer and solution about it
Where are you ?
What are you doing ?

Post 2
If you have the insight to watch and practice SDR Console of Simon G4ELI
It would be very important to adopt a system equivalent of "Visual Gain" in your FDM-S2 software to significantly reduce the reception gain
This has always been a recurring problem in your software
The attenuator function is really not enough.
When do you implement this improvement?

Post 3
I do not wish to evoke the FDM-S3, because the months pass, no information nothing moves on the site.
It saddens me enormously
What are you doing ?

Conclusion
A good user customert who is very good at it and yet who loves his FDM-S2
and the current conditions of no action, risk becoming surely unfaithful to the brand

Thank you ELAD for your future answers to my questions

Patrick,

you can try the version 3.017. Find it in the "Under test" folder. Normally this issue is solved in this version.

FDM-DUO SW2 problem

Charles Ristorcelli

FDM-DUO stand-alone operation is completely normal.

Installed SW2 on Windows 10 operating system on laptop.

Boot up is normal, and display is correct. Radio responds correctly to SW2 commands (freq. change, mode change, waterfall display, etc.)

DUO SW2 works as expected using HRD, N1MM, WSJT-X, etc.

However, once SW2 is booted, while all application software operates normally, at random intervals, DUO is keyed to transmit.

Audio is interrupted, and of course, application software fails.

This does NOT happen in stand alone mode, but naturally no applications can be used.

Any suggestions as to  sourceof problem?

Hello,
I would like to have the interface for the external preselectors expanded from a 1 out of 8 code to a full 8-bit word to select more than 8 possible filters. 8 filters are not enough for the single hambands. Also for a mixture of narrow filters for the hambands and broader for the radiolisteners needs more than 8 filters. As there is also one place neccessary for a bypass the selection without a full 8-bit word is a little bit small.

The expansion would not make the use of the actual mode impossible.

Hello,

I have been using two or three instances of SW2 in my DX machines for a few years. I just realised that on my i7 tablet, the RDS capability greatly suffers once I turn another SW2 on. For example, a 10% BER level (as displayed by RDS Spy) increases to 90% or more when just pressing the "power button" on second SW2 window. Using an SDRPlay (SDRUno software) together with one Elad SW2 running does not have similar impact. Also, in my more powerful desktop computer, I have not seen these symptoms. The CPU consumption remains at about 20% level on the laptop even with the two SW2s are runninng.

I would be interested to know if others have seen a similar issue and if there would be a woraround other than getting a more powerful laptop! I suppose SW2 does not support installing it into two different directories in the same Windows system... and even if it did, would it have any difference?

The laptop is an Asus G750J with i7-4700HQ 2.4GHz and 24GB RAM. The two ELAD FDM-S2 receivers are hooked directly into USB ports on the laptop.

I would like to have some desires also.
1.  I would love to be able to move the slice without moving the window.

2.  Can we have PL tones or CTCSS tones for 6 M FM?

Hi John.

I found the QST Review.  May 2011, Page 47.  There was a CW keying Waveform test.  It showed about 5 millisecond delay and virtually no shortening of the first element.  It had a good wave shape (hence no key clicks) at 60 WPM, 20 Millisecond element size.

The article is worth a read before you would make an investment.

Hi John,

I just tried it again it again.  My duo is using a single TX/RX antenna.  I still hear the relay. It is Very Quiet.  But if you are thinking pin diode for fast operation, I don’t believe it is in the hardware.  That question best asked of the factory.  I am not a dyed in the wool CW operator, the relay works for me.  I don’t know at what speed the relay lag would distort the first character.  QST had a review of the DUO.  I don’t remember if it did the CW break-in clipping test or not.  It would be worth looking into.  If you would like I will try to find that issue.

Most of my operation is digital, WSJT-X FT-8 JT-65 Fldigi, many modes.  I have not even taken the microphone out of the box.
