Re: FDM-DUO Transmit Mute

A MILLION thanks Neil.

I am embarrassed that I forgot about that setting. SHEESH!

I was helping a fellow DUO owner last Wednesday, and as we talked about settings I must have inadvertently UNCHECKED that setting.

Thank you so very much.

I need to come visitand buy you a pint!!

Charlie, no idea unless you are using SW2 and the Mute on TX setting is not ticked on the Audio table of Setup.

Menu 8 is normally set off so you can hear CW sidetone, and menu 9 to on so you don’t hear yourself in SSB, so those look OK.

Can someone tell me why the MUTE function for CW or SSB might not work?

I can not try to transmit without getting feedback and oscillation in the DUO.

Re: FDM-S2 stopped working

Hi Hans

I had the same thing happen to my FDM-S2 with the same symptoms.  After much PC trouble shooting including trying another PC, ELAD said to return it to them.  I did so, and when I got it back it worked again.  According to Franco, he thought the FDM-S2's firmware was corrupted and had to be re-flashed.  It has been working OK ever since.

ELAD S2 RX Markers

Steve St Denis <slstdenis@...>

I was playing around with the Elad RX markers and now have a red, yellow green and blue marker on my waterfall how do I get rid of them ??? I had 4 frequencies set up on them and now want to reset the waterfall so it does not show the markers anymore.

Hi Hans.

I would begin by trying the FDM-S2 on another computer (even better with two) to exclude that the PC hardware and operating system is the culprit, as I guess ELAD is not very keen to give hardware and OS support to your computer.

The rest depends on the results from the tests above.

FDM-S2 stopped working

Hans Ostnell

Hi group!

When connecting my FDM-S2 to any of the USB-ports on my laptop, the computer doesn't recognise the FDM-S2 any more. The device manager in the system folder labels the FDM-S2 as an "unknown device". I have tried to reinstall the FDM-S2 driver, with no luck. Any cure?

The FDM-S2 was delivered from Elad in Italy juas a week ago, and worked perfectly yesterday (both on the FDM-SW2 and Studio 1 software). Started it up also today, and it worked fine for a couple of minutes, then everything "froze".

No reponse from Elad, so far, regarding my issue.

Kind regards,

Hans Ostnell

FDM-DUO SSB Transmit Feedback

Charles Ristorcelli <nn3v@...>

Suddenly, when I try yo transmit SSB signal, it seems that a feedback modulation makes it impossible to transmit. And the speakers or headphones sound like massive feedback is happening.

I have all the settings unchanged from what I always use.

The first think I thought was that XSB MUTE (Menu 9) had inadvertentlychanged to OFF. That is not the case. XSB MUTE (Menu 9) is ON.

I then thought that some RFfeedback was interfeering. I can not find any troubleshooting information that points to that as a problem.

In CW, the CW MUTE ( Menu 8) is also set to ON, and works correctly.

Any thoughts on what may have suddenly changed in FDM-DUO set up, or Idiot Operator (I/O) problems?

Hi James,

How did you resolve the driver issue? I am running win 7 and the FDM-DUO Audio v1.4 driver has failed more times than I can count. I have to uninstall it, shut down the computer, restart, then turn on the Duo to reinstall. Total pain in the rear.

I hope this post can help you

it's a little bit pedantic, cites raspberry but also should have the informations you need.
Feel free to ask for every doubt.

Found it and fixed it along with a few WIN 10 issues e.g. COM3 Driver upgrade is NG.

Re: Programming HC05 for BLUEDUO

Fred Lodden <felodden@...>

I followed the instructions on Ham Radio Science for programming the bluetooth module using a Raspberry Pi. After two days of messing around and trying all possible combinations of pins (is it 11 or 17? - OK now resolved). button presses etc. mine just would not get into programming mode and so I was not even able to progress past step 1 so to speak. Extremely frustrating.
Then after trying to Google what the issues might be, I discovered that it is also possible to program the module with an Arduino using its Serial Monitor as the user interface.
Ok, I have Arduinos too so I set that up. Still had issues getting the module into program mode using the Arduino code (it sequences the power on applied to relevant pins). In the end I found that I could comment out the power on sequencing code in the sketch and I just had to hold down the on-board button on power up and it was in programming mode! After that it was trivial to preform the various commands to change the name, PIN number, baud rate etc.
Well the dongle works but I then got caught out by a mismatch between the Elad Duo code version and the BlueDuo code version. I posted to the group with some images and Giovanni came straight back with an answer.
So, all good now, but it was quite a journey.

Thanks Roland.

I'd answered my own question, as I discovered I had an I/O error.

All is well now, but thanks for the reply.

I have a RS232 to TTL level translator and will be programming via CuteCom on one of my linux boxes...

Do you have a list of command changes that we need to perform? I have nothing against Raspberry Pi's other than the fact that I don't own one...

Thanks

FDM-DUO Audio

Charles Ristorcelli <nn3v@...>

Will someone tell me the proper audio device settings so listening to things such as working "split" (RX1 in one ear, and RX2 in the toher) operate.

I am using Windows 7 home premium and FDM-SW2.

I know the split audio must come from the computer, so that is how I am plugged in.

How does one set "audio" in "SET" or wherever, so that the audio ot of the computer provied the split audio?

One channel to each ear on a stereo headset.
