Tmate V1 software and FDM-S2

Eugeni - EA3QP

Hi,

I've just bought a Tmate v1 in a hamfair to use it with my FDM-S2 (with box, etc,..) but without software, after an small headhache I intalled the drivers in W10 and it works with FDM-S2 but I can't change the Functions keys, so Does anybody the configuration software for Tmate or a link (I didn't find it and ELAD only have software for v2 in the support files) to downwload it or share it? .

Trillion of thanks

A little extra info on the 60w amp...it seems the JA's can only run 50w when they go portable. They are looking for a good quality 50w amp. Franco's amp fits the bill very nicely. It also has an excellent internal antenna tuner as well. The metering circuit is also very nicely done.

It's a linear amplifier, born to be a companion for the Duo, not yet on the market, at least not until the end of next October.
There will be two versions : 60W, that can run off a 12V supply, and a 120W version, only 220V (or 110V for the US).

It can also act as a controller for the Duo Remote Unit, connected to it through an Ethernet connection. Also the Remote
Unit is not on the market yet.

This is the Remote Unit. The quality of the photos leave a lot to be desired, but they were taken in sub-optimal conditions, with
a cell phone, not a real camera, during an Ham Fair.

I checked to see if I somehow accidentally ran the dual monitor option in the Control Panel, thinking that the S2 window could be just outside the viewing area, but it is set for just the one monitor. I also tried cascading the open windows, but still no luck.

I then uninstalled the S2, together with the Visual C++ software, rebooted the computer, re-installed, etc. Still the same.

I am (was) running v1.120.

Has anybody else come across this? Is there a fix? My fear is that I will have to completely reinstall Windows in order to get the S2 working again.

Thanks.

You tried the cascade trick which never works for me when the FM RDS goes off screen. Instead try this, move your mouse to the bottom Taskbar. Do you see FDM-SW2 running and can you hover your mouse above it and see a small icon showing the software? If so try this process below to get it back on screen. If not then pursue drivers I suppose.

Hi John,

FTDI chips are probably in your USB controllers, either on your MBoard or an add-on card, and it looks like Windows Update has trawled up an updated driver which may be incompatible with the ELAD driver (if it's the update that's causing the problem).  You could try checking the dates of the USB drivers in Device Manager, as they should probably all be a few years old by now - if you see one that's quite recent it may be that version which is  causing the problem, and reinstalling an older one might cure it.

Does the radio still work with other software, like SDR-Console v3, or have you only tried SW2?

Regards,

Dave

John…if it's just the SCREEN that has disappeared this may solve the problem and return the Screen to the Monitor….

PRESS        CTRL+ALT+R         to reset the main windows to 0,0 x,y position of the primary monitor.

I've had my Screen disappear a few times when I hit something I shouldn't have and doing this Restores the Screen to the Monitor…..

Give it a try….can't hurt anything, and may even solve the problem???

Re: Band II deaf with S2

Bill Nollman

With large yagi antennas the S2 is very sensitive even in weak signal areas. With smaller antennas I too have found it rather poor as well. I don’t fully understand why this is but when using something like rabbit ears in a quiet environment a pre-amp makes a big difference. In a higher signal area rabbit ears work fine.

Here is what I use for an amp but only when needed - http://www.kitztech.com/KT501.html

Here is what I use for a mobile antenna when I travel - http://www.fmtron.com/data/mobil-antenna.php?item_id=72

I use both when in weak signal areas like I was last week in rural Colorado and the combination was excellent!

I compare to a cheap $15 RTL 820T2 V3 dongle and SDR sharp and the S2 is rather poor for reception in comparison...I am quite disappointed and surprised at this considering the cost of the unit. Anyone else feel the same ?

LW and AM / SW it excels but FM / VHF it certainly does not :(

Yea, I really don't believe there is a problem in the radio, I have not been able to use the radio all day to listen to the ham bands or any utility frequencies it's just not going to work, I will see if the condition improves on the bans in the next couple of days.

I was wondering if I have a issue in my setup of the software or what could be the problem I have not pick up anything in the other bands it's like something in the radio or software is interfering with receiving full strength on any signals. Steve we have had Massive Solar Flares and CME's going on for the past week which has been causing complete Black Outs on the Shortwave/Ham Bands. Give it a day or two and see if things improve after the Propagation settles down. If you're getting AM BCB and FM…I'm sure that's what's happening on Shortwave.

I'm using a Wellbrook ALA-1530 LNP Loop and the ELAD FDM-S@, and the AM BCB has been very Auroral for the past week or so, and many are complaining that SW is dead!!
