I'd guess you're probably pretty close to the mark. It's obvious they were loaded.unloaded one at a time, based on the configuration and design of the cars. If you come across any additional information, please let me know.

ET & WNC Piggyback flatcars
Announcement:
Come on all you Eastern Narrow Gauge fansand modelers, I know you're out there? There is a possibility of getting a "Limited Run" kit of the East Tennessee & Western North Carolina Railroad's Piggyback flatcars produced, with trailer, by Jim King of Smoky Mountain Model Works. It is being considered in both HOn3 and On3 for the time being.
For those who want to know what they look like, please refer to the October '94 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman magazine. The article, by George R. Gilbert, is on page 74.
All those interested in this kit please contact me off-line at "fred1945@bellatlantic.net" so I can add you to the survey I'm running for the manufacturer. Please be sure to indicate whether interested in HOn3 or On3 scale models, as well as an approximate quantity you'd be interested in.
This will in no way obligate anyone, but it will give Jim some idea of how many to produce if it turns out to be feasible to produce it as a "Limited Run" type kit. If enough interest is generated, maybe it'll end up as a "stock" item?
Come on guys, contact me so we can get this kit produced,...an opportunity like this doesn't come around all that often these days!

Potentially about three if it all looks good. Oh yes in HOn3. Honestly speaking, I don't want any until I see the kit. Not trying to be smart, but this is an old resin buying guideline of mine from years of military modeling. I've bought a lot and would only have bought about 60% of the ones I purchased sight unseen were it mine to look at first. I've seen the other Smoky Mountain kits and the have looked really nice. I just seem to end up with the one that sat in a UPS truck in August for 15 hours and strain relieved itself into a bunch of warped parts if I just order one blind. His kits are highly touted so I doubt seriously there would be a problem.

Re: ET & WNC Piggyback flatcars
To throw a bit of history into all of this, the ET&WNC had a total of three of these cars. In fact, one of the cars was longer than the other two, to allow for a longer trailer. There were only two ramps that I know of, in Johnson City and Boone. Like John Waite, I do not know exactly what they looked like. A dead end track up to a ramp would make sense. I am interested in the HO n3 version, but like the man earlier, seeing is believing. Everything Jim has done before has looked good , but I will admit I haven't bought any. Too many other things take my money, like a house. Johnny graybeal

<Potentially about three if it all looks good. Oh yes in HOn3. Honestly speaking, I don't want any until I see the kit. Not trying
to
be smart, but this is an old resin buying guideline of mine from
years
of military modeling. I've bought a lot and would only have bought about 60% of the ones I purchased sight unseen were it mine to look
at
first. I've seen the other Smoky Mountain kits and the have looked really nice. I just seem to end up with the one that sat in a UPS truck in August for 15 hours and strain relieved itself into a
bunch
of warped parts if I just order one blind. His kits are highly
touted
so I doubt seriously there would be a problem.>

Re: Piggyback loading/unloading
I have never seen any photos of it. Would bet there was some sort of portable metal ramp with two tracks.
