NARC 0-6-0 and ET narrow gauge?
I've often wondered, are there any photos of the Porter fireless switcher at North American Rayon in the same frame with any narrow guage ET&WNC trains?
They would have encountered each other often before 1950, but why have I never seen photos with each in the same shot?

Lee: I totally understand. If you are going to do a project like the bus, the parts/donor need to be as close as possible. Mark

Re: The bus on that Hampton film
Mark,
Ironically, I'm waiting for my previous order from Kevin to arrive for detail parts, but he doesn't have a 1939 Dodge. He has a 1940, which sadly has a totally different front end (as most companies did in that model year). It's got to be the right company and year, just as a D&RGW K series wouldn't 'do' for a ET&WNC locomotive. It's just a detail thing for me, I want to get this right. Lee

Lee: Kevin Macomber @ Narrow Gauge Modeling Company, has die cast 1:43 1940 Dodge and !941 Plymouth trucks, that may fit your needs. http://www.narrowgaugemodeling.com/pickups-tow-trucks/ The 1939 Plymouth front end looks VERY close to your photograph. Mark Lewis narrow gauge modeling in N.C.

The bus on that Hampton film
You all remember that Vimeo video of the film shot in Hampton in color?
https://vimeo.com/333139398 At 0:49, we see the only color representations I've ever seen of a Carter County bus before VE day. Well, I was on a quest to find out the type of busses in that film, to get a model of it for my layout in O scale, I submitted the issue to a O scale forum and someone figured it out. It's a 1939 Dodge front end, with a custom body: ![]() ![]() Scratch building the top of the bus body will be a real pain, but the rest shouldn't be too bad, in styrene. I just hope someone makes this truck in 1/43 scale! Lee Bishop

Santa drops off some goodies at Linville. on the On30 ET&WNC RR.
Tom Grabenstein
Santee Claus just visited the Gandy Dancers at the On30 Layout Design Element (LDE) in Linville on the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina RR. He left them some fine imported On30 track (Peco from Merry ole England) and the guys were ecstatic. ![]() There was some Christmas cheer in that bag of his as well....... ![]() .....and the boys merrily went about laying the track for the entire LDE without a complaint. ![]() ![]() Next up is connecting the dropped wires to the bus wires and getting #11 moving under her own power. Thanks for looking.Merry Christmas. ![]() Doc Tom

The 12 was the sound/dcc version, but I replaced the sound board with a TCS Wow v4. It has sound files recorded off the 12. The 11 was just the DCC version and I replaced it with the same TCS board as I did in the 12 and added a speaker. The soon to be 9 is a DCC only version, so I will probably be adding the same sound chip. Tim

Tim: The cut and tree line are looking good. On your 4-6-0 purchases...are you buying the DCC/SOUND versions or the DCC only? Are you retaining the factory DCC and/or sound, or are you retro fitting them with after market electronics? Mark Lewis

Made a little more progress on the layout this weekend. Been adding some trees to a cut I made a few weeks ago. That cut sure makes the sound from #11 really sound good. The plan is to install a similar arrangement of trees above the track soon. I also picked up my 3rd 4-6-0 this weekend. This one will most likely be the 9.

Thank you Tim and Lee for all these great ideas about rolling stock on our favorite railroad. I am saving this entire thread for future use! These are GREAT IDEAS for gondolas, tank cars, boxcars, passenger cars and flat cars for a 1920 rendition of the ET& WNC in On30 gauge. Thank you for all the pictures!

Re: More progress on the Blue Ridge Stemwinder in On30
Tim,
I agree the AMS stuff looks much better. If you'd like a set, I made a set of ET tank car decals for two of them, complete with pressure test markings as Johnny noted in his "Along the ET" series of books. Feel free to contact me directly, I owe you for a cab ride at Tweetsie several years ago on 190! Lee Bishop
