At 0:49, we see the only color representations I've ever seen of a Carter County bus before VE day.
Well, I was on a quest to find out the type of busses in that film, to get a model of it for my layout in O scale, I submitted the issue to a O scale forum and someone figured it out. It's a 1939 Dodge front end, with a custom body:


Scratch building the top of the bus body will be a real pain, but the rest shouldn't be too bad, in styrene. I just hope someone makes this truck in 1/43 scale!

The 12 was the sound/dcc version, but I replaced the sound board with a TCS Wow v4.  It has sound files recorded off the 12.   The 11 was just the DCC version and I replaced it with the same TCS board as I did in the 12 and added a speaker. The soon to be 9 is a DCC only version, so I will probably be adding the same sound chip.

Made a little more progress on the layout this weekend.   Been adding some trees to a cut I made a few weeks ago. That cut sure makes the sound from #11 really sound good. The plan is to install a similar arrangement of trees above the track soon. I also picked up my 3rd 4-6-0 this weekend. This one will most likely be the 9.
