Re: ET&WNC prints?
Lee Bishop
I found his site but he doesn't seem to have prints of his ET&WNC stuff: Crowe Railroad Art Not bad, some of his stuff is decent, all water colors it seems. The problem with the # 14 is that he did the same annoying thing, by painting a ET loco in the wartime lettering but in green and gold with no anniversary logo on the cab side. There are a lot of artists I'd love to see tackle the ET well: Tony Fachet J. Craig Thorpe (I've actually talked to him about this, he is aware of the RR) Mark Karvon Stan Stokes Maybe someday the historical society could commisison a print from a leading artist for sale... -Lee

You might want to check out the artwork of Frank Crowe. He has done at least two ET paintings, both well done. One is of the 14 and a train crossing the over the top covered bridge at Tunnel One. Great details. The other is No. 5, meeting Boone Fork Lumber No. 5 at the wye at Shulls Mills with the evening train. If the train was on time, the 5 met the 5 at 5:55 pm at Shulls Mills. Im sure if you google Frank Crowe art you will find his prints. Great guy who should be patronized. He will do another ET related print, hopefully in 2015. Johnny Graybeal

Chris, Great news, we're all glad to hear at least one previously-thought-lost object from the fire didn't burn up after all! Lee PS, any updates on a new depot? Haven't heard anything for a while, I assume it's still an open spot of ground where the depot stood?

I'm happy to report that the original John Hugh Coker watercolor of #12 in autumn was not lost in the Depot fire; it's here in my office at Tweetsie Railroad. --Chris Robbins

Thanks for the links! The Coker one looks pretty good. I'm really tempted to just do my own ET&WNC drawing, but I haven't tried to do an ET themed drawing since I was a kid. Maybe I'll give it a go. I actually did a ET ten-wheeler for my christmas card (I always do a cartoon weiner dog theme, this time has my pup sitting on a flat car on my layout being pulled by my On30 ET # 12). I'll scan that and post that here eventually. But for now, you can see the type of work I can do here: http://www.freewebs.com/willysmb44/undertheradarbook.htm Lee

I think the guy Tuhr's talking about is Don Iverson, who has a studio located in Banner Elk. Go to www.doniversonartist.com and I think you'll find what you're looking for. I've got several of his prints, nice stuff at a reasonable price. My particular favorite is the "Eat Taters and Wear No Clothes" print; got that one and "Traces" hanging in my living room. The website only sells the limited edition prints but he has (or had) smaller sized reproductions of most of not all of those on the website. You might be able to contact him about getting some of those as well.

Jim Jordan at Jordanart.com has a Passenger train at night in the gorge, or used to.
There was a water color artist in North Carolina who produced six or eight prints but I cannot remember his name nor do I believe he is still offering prints. This weekend when home I will check on his name and see if there is anything still available. Also, I received a duplicate framed print I don't need as a gift so if interested I could send you a photo.

Ted died many years ago. I do not know what happened to his inventory of prints. I'm sure someone on the list can speak to that. Fred

ET&WNC prints?
Lee Bishop
Another question... Are there any ET-themed prints for sale out there? I'm picky about art but would like something to frame for the model train layout room. I'm looking ofr the Howard Fogg 30s print. There's an artist called Ted Laws, I think, but I can't find anything on prints of his work for sale anywhere online. Anyone seen anything on his stuff? -Lee Bishop

ET&WNC logo in b/w?
Lee Bishop
I've asked this before, but I'm looking for a decent-size b/w ET&WNC RR round logo for my On30 layout timetables. I can't use a PDF file, looking for a graphic file for b/w to use on the timetables for my On30 ET layout once its running. It'd need to be good enough quality to reproduce about 2 inches wide or so and look very clear -Lee Bishop

I looked through my collection of ET&WNC Narrow gauge photo's and the St Louis Library collection and couldn't find any crossing protection signs. Johnny Graybeal has a larger collection of photo;s and would be the one to turn up such a picture.

These are some great pictures, taken before the 2-8-0's were dismantled. One more of the unknown / little known ET&WNC photo collections comes to light.

Actually, we are related, but somewhere like 5th cousins...never met the

The only thing I can really say is that isn’t like any Bumgarners I

Thanks for asking,

Not seen this on this list. A pitcher with the Giants in the world series has last name as a certain ET historian and both gentlemen are from Hickory NC. Any kinship Matt? Rick Perry down in Ala.
