Snowy plover - Middle Harbor, Oakland

Following up on another post from Amy McDonald, I visited Middle Harbor in Oakland today about four hours before high tide to see all the wonderful shorebirds: dunlin, western sandpipers, two long-billed curlews, two whimbrels, and many semipalmated plovers. The highlight was a lone, pale snowy plover among the semipalmated plovers, a bright standout against the generally brown palette of shorebirds. I also saw five or six least terns and three Caspian terns.
