Meeker Slough Snow Goose

Sam Zuckerman

Birders walking the SF Bay Trail at Meeker Slough headed to the spit to chase Nelson's Sparrows may have been surprised to see an immature Snow Goose serenely navigating the far northeastern arm of the slough north of the footbridge where the trail curves west toward the beach. Photo here: The sparrows are drawing crowds from far and wide, perhaps introducing many to one of the most wonderful wetland habitats in the East Bay.
