Here is a picture that Lee Aurich took 3/22 at Lake Temescal. Note the white feathers on both sides of the Cal towhee throat. I had seen this same patterning when at Black Diamond Mines on Friday (3/18) with a Cal towhee. I don't ever recall ever seeing this before and these two birds are miles apart ... Can anyone spread some light on this ...  thanks, Sue
