hooded oriole

Bo Forrest

Not sure if this is how to post (newly returned to list after years absence,) but I saw my first hooded oriole, a pair of them, apparently defending a nest in a tall fan palm at the end of Marshall Drive in Walnut Creek.  The male was intensely yellow, as is typical of the western population. There was quite a commotion, but the offending scrub jay eventually departed, and the pair rested side by side on a palm frond.  10AM April 29.
