Sorry, I meant to say that there's no reason it's more dangerous to be outside in parks a safe distance from others than crowded on streets, in stores, etc.

Birds are Amazing! Scrub Jay Behavior
Scrub Jays can be incredibly protective of the humans they love too. My best friend was sleeping in the back of her house with the door open to her yard when the jay started her alarm call. My friend

Birding is now prohibited in California
On KTUV news last night, after the Governor's announcement, they said to go out and walk in the parks for exercise. All the Governor is saying is what our local Bay Area counties had already ordered.

Thank you for the updates. I hope we won't be arrested for going into nature. I'm seeing friends seriously depressed, with the few who got outside in nature suddenly much better. Suicide is a concern

Valle Vista yesterday, Hooded Merganzer pairs, Wood Ducks, White-tailed Kite...
The Wood Ducks seem less shy with so many coots and other water birds. They were on both sides of the bridge in the full creek. (It's so much better with water.) Also a juvenile Black-crowned Night He

Nutall's taking up residence for the cold evening in the Laurel, and a lonely Great Horned Owl on Christmas
Thank you SO much for keeping us updated, Marcus. I loved seeing your nesting Nutall's last year and hearing the owl. Maybe this is one of those Nutall's or the children? Glad we live so close! Bev

Wild turkey with damaged leg
I would never trust Lindsay anyway. I thought there was an East Bay rescue in Hayward, but who could it be? Wildlife services would likely kill the poor thing.

Not in Moraga though, which is why this is exciting, for those of us in Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, etc.

Golden Eagle at Valle Vista
Ohhh, I saw one once, many years ago, on the other side (from Rancho Laguna) and I was trying to figure out if it truly was a Golden Eagle, when a Red-tail mobbed it, again looking tiny in comparison!
