Tilden on Monday
And I forgot about the Red-breasted Nuthatch getting a late start on pecking out a nest cavity. It was fun watching him spit out the wood chips. ;)

I should mention that the Monday birding group saw an Allen's hummingbird with two tiny fledglings on the Upper Packrat Trail. Then near the restrooms across from Jewel Lake we saw two Anna's babies i

Hairy Woodpecker at Jewel Lake
It's possible that some did go over. We saw 10 ducklings on Monday. At one point, some one in the group saw all the ducklings line up at the spillway. The mother swooped in and they followed her away

Yes, saw Black-bellied Plovers at MLK on Thursday. I was with hiking group not birding so didn't make an accurate count but at least 3 or 4.

FOS yard Golden crowned sparrow
However, as the years go on (at least 5 now or more?), I have wondered whether it is exactly the same birds or their descendants.

Not surprised by this because I've had the same flock of exactly 6 GCS in my yard for years.

Much spring activity here. Two tom turkeys facing off in display. Rock pigeon down and up, and down and up, gathering nesting material. A pair of titmice that look like they are feeding their brood. T

Nesting osprey pair at Point Pinole Regional Shoreline
This nesting site is in use every year, at least for the last several years. I presume it is the same pair as that is typical osprey behavior.
