regular winter visitor to Lake Merritt going back to at least 2007. Some

I have reports of the Tufted Duck, a male Tufted Duck, in late fall 2006, 7, 8,
9, 10, 11, and now 12. There could be two generations involved and the
consecutive years may go back earlier

I believe your bird is a Savannah Sparrow. Note, among other things, the
short notched tail. This bird doesn't show a lot of yellow in the face but
that is a pretty variable field mark. I'm

Clay-colored Sparrow
I visited the Elsie Romer Bird Sanctuary in Alameda this morning and found a Clay-colored Sparrow in the fenced-in shrubs just south of the concrete jetty. The jetty had 22 Snowy Egrets on it as well
