Nesting hopes
Yesterday while sitting near the window, I noticed a Chickadee looking inside the bird house in our patio. It has been several years since they nested there, so we have great hopes.

Unusual yard birds for spring
In the past few days I've had two unprecedented sightings for March in my yard. I get these birds every October, but never, in 20 years of observations in March. My home is in northeast Lafayette,

breed at Coyote Hills and I think there may be recent nesting records in

Hi Joe,
I am in Castro Valley, quite far from the fog and I am 100% certain that the hummers at my feeder are Allen’s. No doubt about it.

I believe Rufous is more likely than Allen's in Pleasant Hill. Allen's
prefers coastal fog. That said, the females are not distinguishable in the
field unless you can see the shape of the tail

Interesting Wren behavior
Twice in the last few days I’ve seen an adult Bewick’s Wren pick up a seed from a crack in our deck and give it to a nearby adult Bewick’s Wren. It’s too early for a fledgling to look adult,
