Golden-Crowned Sparrows
I saw my first GCSP this morning at my feeder in Castro Valley. Nothing says "Autumn" in the Bay Area like the 3-note song of the GCSP!

The Tropical Kingbird was seen by at least three of us this morning. Rosalie, Tracy and I were under the large oak on the west side of the pond, when Tracy asked, "Isn't that the Tropical Kingbird?"

The sound of the Great Horned Owl
I have lived in my Oakland neighborhood since 1995. I think this is the first time I have ever heard an owl. This is the call of the Great Horned Owl. Repeated 3 times over the waveform.

Ohhh, I saw one once, many years ago, on the other side (from Rancho Laguna) and I was trying to figure out if it truly was a Golden Eagle, when a Red-tail mobbed it, again looking tiny in comparison!
