I just had what might have been a Eurasian accipiter circling over my Oakland neighborhood. If I'd have remembered to empty my memory card earlier today I would have nailed it, but my card was full and I couldn't get any identifiable photos. It was a small accipiter that appeared to have unmarked or weakly marked whitish underparts. It first appeared over Nevil and Brookdale Streets, then drifted toward the hills until I lost sight of it circling over the vicinity of 35th Ave./Penniman Ave., half-heartedly pursuing a flock of pigeons.
