MLK seasonal wetland at Garretson Point + Tropical Kingbird

Maureen Lahiff

Edgewater Seasonal Wetland, across the road from the Garretson Point parking lot, is very full of water and birds.  Teal trifecta, Northern Shovelers, Northern Pintail, Black-necked Stilts, hundreds of American Avocets.  Great looks for groups and classes.

The Tropical Kingbird that has been sited regularly this winter near the Arrowhead Marsh parking lot was visible around 10:30 this morning, seen from the fishing dock platform looking east. It was perched on a bare-branched bush on the spit of land near the mouth of Elmhurst Creek.  (See EB Parks map on their website.)
