This am there were a few migrants at Vollmer Peak in Tilden: 1 fresh/ heavily streaked juvvy Chipping Sparrow, 2-3 Western Tanagers, and a House Wren. The 4 Western-type Flycatchers and 7-8 Wilson's Warblers I observed may have been migrants or local breeders.
As usual, there were several Rufous-crowned Sparrows farther down the Skyline Trail just south of the Big Springs Trail junction.
Vollmer Peak is near the steam train.
Are the majestic old Monterey pines here slated for the massive clearcut which I believe begins tomorrow?
