Mitchell Canyon

Matthew Dodder

I led my Palo Adult School master birding class to Mitchell Canyon today. It was cool and overcast for the first couple of hours, but became sunnier by late morning, at which time things began to vocalize more. We had several targets, most of which we found. Among the highlights we had along the MItchell Canyon Fire Road and White Canyon spur were:

Calliope Hummingbird
Olive-sided Flycatcher
Hammond's Flycatcher
Cassin's Vireo
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
MacGillivray's Warbler
Nashville Warbler
Hermit Warbler
Western Tanager
Lazuli Bunting
Rufous-crowned Sparrow
