George A Suennen

Hello all,

I took a short trip to the Richmond shoreline off 51st. Not much activity, but got to see a Caspian Tern with a fish, a Whimbrel loose a small crab, and lots of displaying Red-wing Blackbirds.

The complete list in order of appearance:

Red-winged Blackbird
Canada Goose
Western Grebe
Caspian Tern
Whimbrel
California Gull
Snowy Egret
American Avocet
Western Gull
House Finch
Black Phoebe
Song Sparrow
Mourning Dove
Cliff Swallow
European Starling
Doube-crested Cormorant
California Towhee
American Crow

I posted photos at http://birds.avianist.com/2014/140504-Richmond-Eastshore-Park/

Whimbrel loosing the crab start at http://birds.avianist.com/2014/140504-Richmond-Eastshore-Park/slides/0504-154625-01.html . Looks like it got ahold of it's bill and was able to get away.

Best Regards,
George
