Ballena Bay Alameda


Many Forster's Terns and perhaps 8-10 Least Terns are spending a great deal of the day at Ballena Bay lately. Both types are engaged in courtship greeting rituals and the males are bringing in fish to offer their prospective mates.  Their calls fill the air.

Perhaps more importantly, it looks as if the Black Oystercatcher pair will nest again on the barge in the dark woodpile toward the end.  They were there two years ago for the first time, but were not present last year.
