Eurasian Wigeons at Oyster Bay

Noah Arthur

This afternoon there was a pair of EURASIAN WIGEONS in with a small flock of AMERICAN WIGEONS on "Tufted Duck Slough" on the north side of Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline. Gull numbers were lower than they have been, but as usual the flock on the slough produced a couple of first-cycle Slaty-backed candidates that will probably never be identified for sure, dozens of photos each or no. (Keep in mind that the gulls are usually bathing on the slough only during outgoing tide.)
