Black Scoter at Bay Farm Island

Noah Arthur

This early afternoon I checked out the Bay Farm Island herring run, hoping for gulls. There weren't many gulls, not enough for a rarity to show up, but there was a very active and aggressive male BLACK SCOTER in with the swarm of 1000+ SCAUP, SURF SOCTERS, COMMON GOLDENEYES, BUFFLEHEADS, etc. Most of the action (including the Black Scoter) was at the same place as posted on a map yesterday: just offshore from the little grassy park that's just north of the intersection of Sea View Parkway and Oldcastle Lane.
