Urban Kite’s Early Return

Mike Hall

10 January, 1300. White-tailed Kite chirping from atop redwood behind 1645 California Street, Berkeley. This was his favorite perch last year. He and his mate (they were apparently unsuccessful breeders) hung out within this city block* for a little over two months, beginning at the very end of February 2011. Better luck this time around, Chirpy! (*bounded by California, Lincoln, McGee, Virginia)
