Between runs for the RT Pipit in Sunnyvale, I tried around mid-afternoon. Other birders were there. No luck.

Did anyone try for the Vermilion Flycatcher? Thanks a Vermilion in advance.

Subject: [EBB_Sightings] VERMILION FLYCATCHER at Lake Elizabeth in Fremont

Hi all,

I’ve just confirmed an eBird report of an immature male (or possibly female)
VERMILION FLYCATCHER at Lake Elizabeth (Central Park) in Fremont. The bird was
seen this past Sunday afternoon October 30th, from the paved path between the
south end of the lake and creek. It was flycatching from the top of a leafless
tree on the south side of the creek. I spent about an hour looking for the bird
late today without success. In the meantime, the observer sent me four
photos tonight which leave no doubt that the bird is a Vermilion Flycatcher. The
basic description he provided was “Streaked chest and red underbelly with a gray
hood and back”.

At the moment, I'm awaiting an okay from our fellow birder to mention his name
and to provide a link to his photos. But I wanted to get the word out as soon as
I was able to confirm the sighting. I’ve also asked if he can provide additional
location details.
