FYI, Alviso no longer open to gulling

Noah Arthur

All the salt pond trails around Alviso are now closed at sunset, presumably to prevent birders from disturbing roosting and nocturnal wildlife. While this is actually an excellent policy for a NWR, it does mean that gulling is no longer feasible in the area, since the big flocks tend to come in during the half-hour to an hour before sunset, and most of this time is now required for walking back before closure.
(Also... according to signage at the EEC, it is a criminal trespass to be on the trails after closing time... so don’t try to get away with it; you WILL be arrested!)
