Join Western Field Ornithologists' Annual Conference in Ventura, September 26-30

David Quady and Nancy Boas

Hello, Bay Area Birders:

Registration is now open to all birders for WFO’s Annual Conference in Ventura.

There's an excellent lineup of workshops and field trips, including two day-long pelagic trips to Santa Cruz Island (for Island Scrub-Jay) and pelagic waters beyond. David Ainley, of H.T. Harvey & Associates, will deliver the keynote address, on “Population dynamics of seabirds in response to their prey, in the Gulf of the Farallones, 1980s to the present.” Paul Collins, from the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, will deliver the plenary presentation that opens the Science Sessions. You'll enjoy participating in WFO’s two legendary quizzes — Nathan Pieplow's bird sound quiz and Ed Harper’s photographic quiz. Eight youthful birders have won scholarships to this conference; come meet them and share their enthusiasm for birding.

See you in Ventura!
