Pt Pinole Sparrows and yard

Sheila Dickie

Late post with apologies. Sunday, Sept. 24, at Pt Pinole Regional Shoreline Park at the pond off Owl Alley: two Fox Sparrows, one Song Sparrow, one Lincoln's Sparrow and several White Crowned Sparrows. Also enjoying the pond despite being chased off repeatedly by a Black Phoebe, one Wilson's Warbler. One American Kestrel seen.

My yard in Richmond flats (Roosevelt at 29th) welcomed its first White Crowned Sparrow of the season on Sept. 22, one day earlier than last year. a spectacular adult bird. The Yellow Warbler and Orange Crowned Warbler are also still present from time to time, neither welcomed by the resident Anna's Hummingbird which goes into a steep climb above them whenever spotted.
