Black Scoter at Emery Point 3/30/10

I stopped along the frontage road between University Avenue in Berkeley and Powell in Emeryville between showers this afternoon around 3:00 PM. There were many SANDERLINGS, 14 BLACK TURNSTONES, and at least 5 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS along the beaches and rock shoreline near Point Emery. While scanning the shoreline, a male BLACK SCOTER flew by the point towards the Berkeley Marina.
There were also 5 PELAGIC CORMORANTS on the breakwater island off the Berkeley Marina, showing their white breeding patches.
