Orioles & Osprey, Pt. Pinole

Sheila Dickie

Yesterday, Sunday April 2, late afternoon at Pt Pinole Regional Shoreline Park there were two male Bullocks Orioles at the pond off Owl Alley (in the bramble and reeds on the left). Also in the same location one Lincoln's Sparrow in the company of a handful of Golden-crowned Sparrows.

Earlier in the afternoon there was an Osprey sitting on the breakwater seen from the beginning of the Bay View Trail as you are looking toward Breuner Marsh. Later at the pier an Osprey flew overhead calling and carrying a fish. The bird landed on the Osprey nest on the old pier pilings briefly then hopped to a nearby post and commenced to eat the fish.
