Dan Crowson

van den Bergh 41 (HD 244068 and others) is the star and faint reflection nebula in the center of the image. The whole field is a bit reddened due to dust illuminated by our galaxy. A couple of the denser areas are designated in the Planck Galactic Cold Clump (PGCC) catalog. These are located in Taurus – a couple of degrees from M1.

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1

RGB – 8:8:11x300s – 40:40:55 minutes each – binned 2x2

375 minutes total exposure – 6 hours 15 minutes

Imaged January 11th, 16th, 17th, 31st and February 5th and 6th, 2021 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
