N44 Emission Nebula in LMC

Bernard Miller

Hi,

This is an image of N44. It is an emission nebula with a super bubble structure located about 160,000 light years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud in the constellation Dorado. N44 has a super bubble caused by radiation pressure from the open cluster in its center. The stars are blue-white and very luminous and powerful. N44 also has a smaller bubble structure called N44F that is created from a massive central star with a powerful stellar wind moving at 7 million kph, as the star sheds material at 100 million times the rate of our sun.

Comments and suggestions welcomed.
