M77 / Arp 37

Dan Crowson

M77 (Arp 37, NGC 1068, UGC 2188 and many others) is a barred spiral galaxy located approximately 47 million light-years away in Cetus. Arp classified this one as Spiral Galaxies – Companions on Arms – Low Surface Brightness Companions. Your guess is as good as mine.

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1

RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

360 minutes total exposure – 6 hours

Imaged September 4th, 8th and 30th, 2016 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.

Dan,
That's very nice!

That target has been on my list for some time I have some data but just test shots.

The weather is looking up.
